a5c7b9f00b In a world where giant humanoid Titans prey on humans, Eren joins the scouting legion to get revenge on the monsters who killed everyone in his town. In 100 years, humanity lives in fear of the Titans. A race of beasts who take the appearance of humans but are much larger and lack sexual organs. Their only purpose is to feast upon humans. However, humanity barricaded themselves in three 50-meter walls to protect themselves from the terror of the Titans. First let me say I'm a huge fan of the anime, and I respect that this film had a huge challenge in its path. There is so much character development and back-story and a massive cast of characters to try and include in one film. Not to mention some of the most terrifying monsters and awesome action to try and transfer from animation to film. Objectively, the film falls flat on most fronts. The character development is nearly nonexistent and what is there focuses on the most annoying and unimportant characters. Where is the exposition of Eren? The depth of his relationship with sister and protector Mikasa? The action is a fair attempt at bringing to life the ODMG, but it's obviously very low budget. The Titans however are satisfyingly disturbing, and without spoiling anything one Titan in particular is done very very well.

To summarize, lackluster action, pathetic character development, passable acting (barely), cookie-cutter characters and decent horror. As a fan, it's worth renting. As an uninitiated viewer, pass this Titan movie because it's a titanic flopa standalone action-horror.

4 out of 10 for my fan bias. Just go watch the anime again. can't wait for the part 2: end of the world. this is really great, though it had deviate a little the circumstances between Mikasa and Eren but it fits the film development. overall, a combination of good character play and execution. the theme is original, of course the source anime, so everything is unseen beforefarI know. i'm glued to the screen comparing it with anime and finding the original characters. I won't delve much into the film, I've watched the series and reads the manga but is not that much familiar with the background details. it had deviate a little from the anime but I like the twist here. there's a drama with each character and the love storywellthe action. there is no downside part for me, every moment you will be glued to the screen and will be immersed in the story. but still, when eren killed all the titans and return to normal, instinctively I felt that the time is up and look at my watched and alas, time's already up. there's a preview of the part 2 after the film.
